Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator

Author — of (Canada's) Diabetes Meals for Good Health, previously called Meals for Good Health. Meals for Good Health won the Dietitians of Canada and Kraft Regional Award "Speaking of Food & Eating Award: Excellence in Consumer Nutrition Communication", 1999, and the "National Health Information Award 2005, Health Promotion/Disease and Injury Prevention Information". Karen also authored:

Speaker — Enthusiastic, innovative speaker who presents practical and fun education sessions at regional, national and international conferences. Interviewed on national television and radio, and reviewed in over 200 newspapers, magazines and professional journals. Karen has successfully presented to professional groups as well as to consumers. She also presents to Canadian First Nations and American Indian communities.

Community Health Dietitian — Karen works as a diabetes and nutrition educator and has counseled over 5,000 clients during the last 25 years. In 1997, she was awarded the "Outstanding Performance in Community Nutrition Award" by the Manitoba Association of Registered Dietitians.

Nutrition Consultant — Successfully completed nutrition contracts for Health Canada, Dietitians of Canada, Manitoba Health, and Yellowquill College.

Professional Membership — Current member with Dietitians of Canada, College of Dietitians of Manitoba, and the Diabetes Educator Section of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
